![]() ![]() I use a cheaper alternative to the Multiclock - the Expert Sleepers USAMO. Have only used it when traveling with only a Rytm or whatever. I have been using Overbridge-enabled Elektron instruments for 6 years and I have never been satisfied with OB. OB, you’ve got LOTS work to do… I can see why you’re afraid to show your face… Now I’m back to recording A4 tracks individually but it sure is great having no drifting on my long delays, Arps that stay in time and microtiming that doesn’t sound messy… ![]() So goodbye OB, goodbye multi-track recording, goodbye audio over USB… It’s been challenging, slightly amusing, very frustrating and mildly fun… ERM has shown me just how unstable you are and its time we parted ways… There is no way to manage midi offset when using OB (please enlighten me if you know of a way) and as a result, my A4 triggers a whole step out of time when synced to OB through Ableton… ironically, Ableton is clocking my ERM via audio and its tight, super tight… but the internal clock in Ableton has OB drifting all over the place… and I mean stupid drifts that are unusable! Is that correct? Because with most of my synths I tend to sequence them in Abletons sequencer and I am having sync issues with the midi notes from Ableton triggering the synth in time.So I got an ERM Multiclock because I was sick to death of Midi jitter and needed some stability in my set up… Now I have a super tight set up EXCEPT for Overbridge… I’ve had to abandon OB for my A4 and can’t see myself using it again unless its stability can be drastically improved and the latency can be rectified. Lastly I came across someone on the Ableton forums who was in a similar situation and he basically came to the conclusion that the ERM will only sync your external instruments sequencers and have no effect on the instrument being in sync with Ableton’s sequencer. If anyone in a similar situation who has been through this or knows anything about this and could shed some light on the best way forward, I would be eternally grateful. Is there a way to get the ERM to now sync all my synths via the usb’s connected to my Mac or do I now need to connect all my synths to the ERM? If I must connect the synths to the ERM via midi, do I need a midi box like the Erica Synths Midi Thru Box so I have enough ports? (I have more than 4 synths). The manual might as well be Chinese, I’m having a hard time understanding what I need to do next.įirst of all, do you recommend Ableton being the master clock or should the ERM now be the master? With Ableton the master, the dials etc on the ERM seem to have no effect. But this as far as I’ve got and as far as my limited knowledge on clocks and midi routing etc will take me. So I’ve installed the ERM plugin and loaded it onto an empty track and I appear to have the ERM box synced to Ableton as the BPM matches and changes when I change in Ableton. All my synths and drum machines are connected to a MacBook Pro via a USB hub. I resisted for ages because of the price but I eventually caved in decided to give it ago. I kept coming across the ERM Multiclock as like this godlike device for hyrid set ups to keep everything perfectly sync’d with your DAW. I use Ableton (which I love) but I seem to be spending far too much of my time fixing or caring about sync issues and/or reading posts about how to fix it. It’s been great fun, but now I’ve ended up in a bit of a hybrid mess. Helloooo anyone who cares to read this! □ Really quick bit of background - been producing 2 years, ended up getting hardcore GAS throughout covid and went a bit nuts buying gear. ![]()
